We are seeking a candidate who has expertise in advancement and development operations to provide  
counsel and support to clients from healthcare systems and academic medical centers, colleges and universities, arts and cultural organizations, and many other nonprofits to advance their missions. This position will work with client-facing engagement teams to conduct assessments and provide subsequent deliverables, including but not limited to areas such as gift processing, reporting, technology implementation and systems, business processes, and other related functions that support the fundraising process. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in operations related to philanthropy or fundraising, ability to document and analyze business processes, in-depth understanding of fundraising systems and data, and other related functions. This position will rely heavily on project management experience, ability to prioritize multiple projects and deadlines, and proactive time management. The ability to exercise initiative, independent judgment, and accountability for various processes and projects is crucial. Excellent writing skills are critical to support projects that require written work product.  Strong communication and presentation skills are necessary to engage with clients. 
 
This position works collaboratively with clients, consultants, and support staff. This position will frequently partner with and learn from industry-leading consultants as they help clients to discover solutions to their operations challenges.

Responsibilities 
  • Perform client work independently and as a part of a team. 
  • Tasks and projects may include assessments, providing counsel, staff augmentation, participating in technology selection and implementation projects, and other projects that arise. 
  • Lead small scale engagements independently and participate in large client engagements in defined roles as outlined in project scope and as defined by the project engagement lead. 
  • Collaborate regularly with internal team members and clients to ensure delivery of cohesive and quality work product delivered by deadline. 
  • Meet utilization goals related to billable client work. 
  • Support firm-generated thought leadership by creating written content and engage in speaking opportunities to promote expertise in philanthropy through firm and industry publications, conferences, or events. 
  • Participate in ongoing internal activities as a productive and active member of the firm. These may include orientation and ongoing trainings, firm-wide client review meetings, and other skill-building activities. 
  • Contribute to BWF sales and marketing efforts through dedicated opportunity discovery and sales process activities. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 
Qualifications 
  • 5+ years of work experience related to fundraising operations in higher education, healthcare, and/or other nonprofit settings with a strong understanding of nonprofit technology and surrounding ecosystem. 
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal. 
  • Ability to work in high pressure situations. 
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team. 
  • Analytical skills, both qualitative and quantitative, and a solid strategic thinking ability for developing client recommendations and other deliverables. 
  • Solid time management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience; professional certification welcome. 
Location, Hours and Working Conditions
  • This position can be remote (within the continental United States) or based in our Minneapolis office (locally based employees are expected to maintain a hybrid office presence).
  • Position requires ability to work in a stationary position for majority of workday. 
  • Continuous use of computer. 
  • Frequent communication with team and clients via zoom and in person. 
  • We strive to provide work/life balance whenever possible but due to the nature of this role, weekend and evening hours are required when deadlines need to be met.
  • Overnight travel to client sites, conferences or firm meetings is sometimes required (up to 30% of time).

Compensation and Benefits 
Annual base salary range of $80,000 to $90,000 based on qualifications and experience.  This position is eligible for an annual performance bonus based on transparently defined performance metrics including client satisfaction, work quality, team attainment, and firm contribution metrics.
